The metal has a white metallic lustre, low density, is corrosion and temperature resistant, mechanically strong and ductile.

Today, titanium is usually categorised as a light metal. With a density of 4.50 g/cm3 at room temperature, it is the heaviest of these and is close to the 5 g/cm3 limit between light and heavy metals that is most commonly used today.
